Hot Classic Draft from Torryburn

The Cornish family owned Torryburn Stud enjoyed a year to remember in 2017 with a string of Group winners either bred/ sold or raised at the picturesque farm including record breaker Deploy, multi-million dollar earner Terravista and unbeaten Hot King Prawn, one of the brightest sprint prospects in Hong Kong that was sourced from their Inglis Classic draft in 2016.

Success is no stranger at Torryburn, but results over the past 12 months have really put the spotlight on a highly successful boutique breeding operation that consistently produces good horses.

Rising HK sprint star Hot King Prawn was bought from the Inglis Classic Torryburn draftTorryburn bred and sold Fastnet Rock sprinter Deploy was in hot form at the start of spring, reeling off course record breaking wins in the Group III ATC Show County Quality and then the Group II ATC Theo Marks Stakes for his owners, who also include Torryburn Stud.

Prepared by Gerald Ryan, he ended the year with earnings in excess of $700,000 and as a five year-old gelding, he no doubt has more wins in store.

Evergreen sprinter Terravista, was foaled and raised at Torryburn, and recaptured his glory days in 2017 winning the Group I VRC Lightning Stakes at the start of the year and finishing a close second in the Group I VRC Darley Classic at the end of it.

The Joe Pride trained eight year-old has won over $2.6 million in prizemoney.

Not to mention Hot King Prawn, a rising star in the stable of leading Hong Kong trainer John Size for whom he has now won five from five with his yearling half-brother by Your Song set to be a standout for Torryburn at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Hot King Prawn was plucked from the Torryburn Stud Inglis Classic draft for $90,000 and is yet to taste defeat!

Filly Snitzel x Suzy Smart (USA)- GOLD RIBAND SESSION



By the reigning champion sire Snitzel and is one of only two fillies at this sale by him. Half-sister to two winners from stakes-placed juvenile winner Suzy Smart, a grand-daughter of triple Group I winner Minstrella.

Lot 115 Colt Deep Field x Lustful – GOLD RIBAND SESSION



Second foal of a placed half-sister to Torryburn Stud bred and sold Group II ATC Silver Slipper winner Chance Bye, a pin-up girl for the Inglis Classic having won the Inglis Nursery and Inglis Classic races at two.

Lot 379 Filly Shooting to Win x Endearment – Half-sister to three winners headed by stakes-placed Privlaka, who has won his past two starts since the catalogue went to print at the Sunshine Coast and Doomben taking his earnings in excess of $322,000.



Her dam Endearment is a metropolitan winning daughter of champion sire Danehill (USA) and is a grand-daughter of US triple Group I winner Tappiano.

This filly is from the first crop of Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting to Win, a brilliant sprinter miler by ill-fated Northern Meteor, the Champion Australian First Season Sire of his generation.

Lot 642 Colt Uncle Mo (USA) x Tell Someone (NZ) – By one of the best stallions in North America that stands at a fee of $US125,000 and in Australia has left the likes of Group II winner Man from Uncle and stakes-winner Moqueen.



Half-brother to four winners headed by multiple Hong Kong winner Why Why and also to the dam of Group II winner Traitor.

His dam Tell Someone is a metropolitan winning half-sister by champion sire O'Reilly to stakes-winner Legsman from a classy Kiwi Black Type family featuring Group I winner Brambles .
