Spirit of Boom Debut 2YO Winner

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 16

Queensland’s favourite son Spirit of Boom is a ‘king of the kids’ as a sire and has his first two year-old winner on the board for a new season with a debut victory at Doomben on Wednesday for Cuddles for Kimmy.

A homebred for Murray Webster’s Hopetown Farm trained by Corey & Kylie Geran, Cuddles for Kimmy was held up for a run until well into the straight and finally got out to dash clear and win the 1050m scamper by the best part of a length, but the margin should have been greater.

“It was a very good win today from that little filly and it’s a great result for her breeder Murray Webster at Hopetown Farm as he’s been a great supporter of ours,” said Corey Geran.

“She’s named after Murray’s wife Kim, Cuddles for Kimmy!”

Cuddles for Kimmy is the third winner from stakes-placed General Nediym mare Cuddles for Naara, who comes from the family of Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner True Jewels.

Spirit of Boom has his first 2YO winner of a new season!

Spirit of Boom stands at a fee of $38,500 at Eureka  Stud this spring.
