Private Life and Feroce go to the line together in the G1 Caulfield Guineas - image Grant Courtney

Beaten a neck in the $3million Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas on Saturday was progressive gelding Feroce, who very nearly emulated the success of his young Waikato Stud based sire Super Seth, who won the race in 2019.

A $160,000 purchase from the Kilgravin Lodge draft at the 2022 NZB Ready to Run Sale, Feroce has already won over $667,000 in prizemoney and has two close relations in the upcoming sale including his half-brother.

Lot 332 is a US Navy Flag (USA) gelding from Corinthia offered by Prima Park. He is a half-brother to Group II placed SW Siracusa and also to Feroce with Corinthia producing three winners from three to race. This is the Tristalove branch of the iconic Eight Carat (GB) family that has produced Group I winners De Beers and Viking Ruler.

Lot 178 is an Almanzor (Fr) gelding from Siracusa offered by Prima Park. He is the first foal of SW Siracusa, a half-sister by Sebring to Feroce.

The Written Tycoon x Snitzel nick has come in for some investigation following the win of Private Life, so lets check out those stats. The nick has produced 17 winners from 31 runners highlighted by three SW’s that include another Group I winner Velocious as well as Group II winner Captured by Love and stakes-placed Supercilious.

There is one horse bred this way in the sale and he’s going to be well inspected.

Lot 181 is a Written Tycoon colt from Snitzel’s Goddess offered by Lilywhites Lodge. His dam has had two winners from three to race and is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to SW Snickerdoodledandy. She is also a half-sister to Group III winner Crafty Irna from Group I winner Zirna.

Luberon wins the G3 Sweynesse Stakes - Race Images

Promising young Savabeel sire Embellish posted his second stakes-winner on Sunday when progressive mare Luberon took out the Group III Sweynesse Stakes and has now won five of 10 starts. She is the first winner from just two runners for Embellish from daughters of champion sire Fastnet Rock and the nick appears once in this sale.

Lot 203 is a gelding from Stylish Achiever offered by Kilgravin Lodge as agent for Lava Bloodstock. He is the third foal of a winning daughter of Group III winner Flying Object.

The 2024 edition of the Ready to Run Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 20 & 21 November with Breeze Ups to be held at Te Rapa Racecourse on 21 & 22 October. Click to see the full catalogue.
