Last day to bid on Group One performing Savabeel mare

Media Release - Monday February 5
The current gavelhouse New Zealand auction boasts a rare gem  with black-type Savabeel daughter Endean Rose a highlight.

Endean Rose is offered for sale by co-owner Andrew Burton, the timing of coming to market was to coincide with Karaka 2018.

Endean Rose, a G1 performed Savabeel mare"I thought offering her up for sale at this time made sense with all of the international agents in the country for the yearling sales," he said.

"After the Book 1 session had finished up we had some agents come down and inspect her and have had plenty of enquiries."

Savabeel progeny have been hot property this week at Karaka, selling for up to $1,025,000 while averaging $261,066 in Book 1.

Believed to still be a racing proposition, there's scope to further enhance the mare's race record while incorporating her into a breeding program.

A winner of six to date from 1400m to 2000m, she is a versatile galloper who has proven effective on good to slow ground.

Trained by Iain Kennedy, her Group One placing came in the form of third in the 2017 Hawkes Bay Livamol Classic behind Wait A Sec and Gingernuts. Her record is further bolstered by a Group Two second in last autumns Travis Stakes behind Mime with Group One winners Sofia Rosa, Thee Auld Floozie and Charmont in arrears.

Her third dam is Oaks winner Domino (Grosvenor) who herself is the dam of dual Group One winner Hero with Group Two winner La Etoile a half-sister to Endean Rose's dam Pretoria (Carnegie).

A breeding certificate will be made available for the mare with bidding closing from 7pm NZ time tonight, Monday 5 February. Register to bid online or contact the gavelhouse.com NZ team via haylie@gavelhouse.comor phone +649 296 4436 for assistance.

Meanwhile gavelhouse.com Australiaentries are also due today. Celebrating two winners last week, consistent demand for tried stock has seen horses sell for up to $75,000 in this category with some of the country's leading stables regular users of the site.
