Tara Madgwick - Thursday October 3

Lindsay Park Racing produced an interesting debut winner for Castelvecchio at Ballarat on Thursday in Double Market, who has a full brother to be offered at the NZB Ready to Run Sale next month.

A big strong filly that will be even better in time, she showed her inexperience over the latter stages when reluctant to race clear of the runner-up, but did enough for Harry Coffey to take a long neck win in the 1400m maiden.

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from Bhima Thoroughbreds for Lindsay Park Racing, Double Market was bred by GSA Bloodstock and is the second winner from First Tier, a winning Redoute’s Choice mare, whose dam is a half-sister to Group I winner He’s No Pie Eater.

Double Market traces back to an iconic female family with her fourth dam Show Lady, the dam of celebrated import Dancing Show (USA), the dam of Group I winners Umatilla, Hurricane Sky and of course blue hen Shantha’s Choice.

Kilgravin Lodge will offer Lot 369 at the NZB Ready to Run Sale, a Castelvecchio gelding from First Tier.

Double Market is the fifth winner of the new season for Castelvecchio, whose stakes-placed filly Comanche Miss runs in the Group II VRC Edward Manifold Stakes on Saturday at Flemington.
