Written Tycoon Filly Daella Looks Promising

Mark Smith - Wednesday October 2

A well-beaten second as favourite on debut behind the promising Shamus Award filly Fluent on the Ballarat Synthetic, the Written Tycoon filly Daella showed an appreciation for the turf with a fast-finishing win in the Rosemont Stud Maiden Plate at Cranbourne on Wednesday.

Ridden by Jake Noonan for Cliff Brown, Daella settled just off the speed set by Champagne Tonight. Moving to a challenging fourth on straightening, the 3-year-old daughter of Written Tycoon powered to the line to defeat the Capitalist filly Echelon by a half-length with the Capitalist filly Champagne Tonight a length and a quarter back third.

A $240,000 purchase for Cliff Brown Racing from the Parsons Creek draft at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Daella races for Glen Whittenbury's Barree Pastoral and Imperial Racing Stable.

The Whittenbury family has been long-time Brown supporters, and they raced the crack sprinter The Inferno with him in Singapore.

With Brown in Singapore, Tony Lane represented the stable as time is called on racing at Kranji.

"She has come on since being beaten by a really smart horse at Ballarat," Tony Lane said.

"Jake has done a lot of work on this horse, and it's great for Glen Whittenbury, who is a great supporter of the stable.

"Cliff is in Singapore for the last race meeting. He loves Singapore and Singapore racing, so that it will be a sad day for him."

Daella is the first foal for the Fastnet Rock mare Visenya, who was purchased by Parsons Creek for $310,000 from the Arrowfiwld Stud draft at the 2021 Inglis Chairman's Sale when carrying Daella.

Daella a $240,000 Inglis Easter yearling

Visenya is the daughter of the Canterbury-winning Encosta De Lago mare Rex Is A Star, a sister to Rubick, and a three-quarter sister to Manhattan Rain, Precious Lorraine, Echoes Of Heaven, and Lucky Raquie.

Parsons Creek race Visenya's 2-year-old So You Think filly, Vaella, who failed to make her $250,000 reserve at the Magic Millions.

Visenya has a yearling filly by Wootton Bassett (GB) and was covered by Dundeel last spring.
