Cosmic Force Newcastle Double

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 1

Newgate Farm’s young sire Cosmic Force posted a race to race double of new three year-old  winners at Newcastle on Tuesday that included the Ciaron Maher trained colt Force Red, who saluted as a short priced favourite.

Force Red had one previous start finishing fifth to Espionage in the Group III ATC Breeders Plate a year ago and was primed for his return with a couple of encouraging recent trials.

He jumped straight to the front for Jason Collett in the 900m maiden and led for home. When challenged, he found another gear to slip away from his rivals and win by two and a half lengths.

Bred by China Horse Club, Force Red was purchased for $240,000 by Triple Crown Syndications from the draft of The Chase at Magic Millions and was the second highest priced yearling from the first crop of Cosmic Force.

Force Red was a $240,000 Magic Millions purchase.

He is the second winner from unraced Fastnet Rock mare Joseph’s Coat, a sister to stakes-winner Saturn Rock from stakes-winner Satin Robes.

Joseph’s Coat has foaled this spring producing a colt by another of the young Newgate sires in Artorius.

Cosmic Force had a double at Newcastle with the Matt Vela trained filly Cosmeena scoring over 1250m at her second start by a length to give her sire six winners this season.

A Group II winning son of Deep Field, Cosmic Force stands at a fee of $11,000 this spring.
