Hidden Wealth Captures the Weetwood

Mark Smith - Saturday September 28

A long-range plan came off when Hidden Wealth went coast to coast in Saturday’s Listed 1equine Toowoomba Weetwood (1200m) under the lights at Toowoomba.

Ridden by  Angela Jones, the 5-year-old son of Better Than Ready gave Tony Gollan a second consecutive Weetwood in defeating the favourite Yellow Brick (The Mission) by a half-length with the winner’s stablemate Rockribbed (Night Of Thunder) back in third.

A $110,000 purchase for Gollan Racing/John Foote Bloodstock from the Kynoch Thoroughbreds draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, Hidden Wealth advances his record to seven wins, a second, and two thirds from 14 starts with earnings of $453,325.

“We thought he was a Weetwood horse in the winter, and we put him away specifically to have him here today. I am so thrilled for the owners,” Gollan said.

“He’s a very smart horse; he should not have the rating he has. There was a simple game plan from a wide draw to go across and control the race. Let him go fast enough as he has shown us at home he is a horse that can sustain a good gallop.

“He did an amazing job, and you will hear a lot more from this horse in the next couple of seasons.

“In the back of my mind, I have a race for him in Sydney on Everest day, the consolation (Sydney Stakes). He is a Magic Millions horse, and you will certainly see him at the Summer Carnival.”

Hidden Wealth a $110,000 Magic Millions March yearling

Hidden Wealth is the best of three winners from as many to race for the 5-time winning Bradbury's Luck mare Miss Stash, a descendant of the influential broodmare Kamar (CAN), dam of Key To The Moon, Gorgeous, and Seaside Attraction.

Miss Stash has a 2-year-old sister to Hidden Wealth named Stash The Cash, and revisited Better Than Ready last spring.

Hidden Wealth is the 13th black-type winner for Better Than Ready, who stands at Lyndhurst Stud Farm for $27,500.
