2023 Magic Millions Sale-Topper Opens His Account

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 20

I Am Invincible colt Superluminal was the headliner at the 2023 Magic Millions Yearling Sale when fetching $2.7million for Segenhoe Stud when bought by Tom Magnier and he became a winner on Friday when scoring easily at Ballarat.

Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Damian Lane, Superluminal was sixth on debut at Bendigo last month over 1100m, but appreciated a step out to 1400m for this assignment and cruised clear to win by a length and a half.

Damian Lane rode him on debut and again today and has a good feel for the expensive colt.

“This horse was good today, he was able to bounce through his first run and improve,” said Lane.

“He’s progressive and took good benefit from his first up run and if he does that again he can go on to a better level.”

Superluminal runs for Coolmore and partners that include Woppitt Bloodstock and he carries the colours of their Champion 3YO Riff Rocket, who sadly passed away this week.

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Superliminal is the first foal of brilliant multiple Group II winning Fastnet Rock filly Anaheed, a daughter of Group I winner Rostova.

Superluminal topped the Magic Millions in 2023.

Anaheed’s second foal is another I Am Invincible colt that sold for $1.2million at Inglis Easter this year to China Horse Club / Newgate / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy and has been named All Star.

She had a year off in 2022, so no foal this year and is due to foal to Anamoe this spring.

Superluminal was one of three winners on Friday for I Am Invincible, who leads the Australian General Sires list by winners on 40.
