Cinderella Days Sells for $675,000 on Inglis Digital

Media Release - Thursday September 12

Brilliantly talented sprinting mare Cinderella Days has become the new sale-topper for the Inglis Digital September (Early) Online Sale, selling today for $675,000.

Offered by owner and breeder David Bentata, Cinderella Days was initially passed in during yesterday’s sale.

Cinderella Days is headed to Arrowfield Stud.

But 24 hours of negotiations has resulted in Arrowfield Stud adding to its broodmare band by purchasing the daughter of Astern and G1-winning mare Ofcourseican.

“Having raced her grand dam, as well as breeding and racing both Cinderella Days and her dam, it was a very tough decision to sell this mare as she means the world to me,’’ Bentata said.

“Although, I’m relieved she is going to a great farm where she will get every chance to breed a good horse, which I truly believe she can do.

“Having been so busy with work, the Inglis Digital platform provided the perfect avenue to offer her to the market with a ‘hands off’ approach and I’m grateful for the work Inglis, and in particular Harry Bailey, did in making the process so seamless.

“They have been so professional and diligent from start to finish, leaving no stone unturned, whilst handling everything in a sensitive manner. I wish Arrowfield the very best of luck with her.’’

Arrowfield’s Jon Freyer added: “We haven’t decided which of our stallions she’ll go to yet, we’ll get her back to the farm and settled in and then make a decision.

“She’s a beautiful mare with really attractive bloodlines. David has been a great breeder, he’s developed a couple of outstanding families and we’re delighted to be able to purchase this mare because I’m confident she’ll make a beautiful broodmare.

“It took some negotiating! David is a neighbour of ours and a great judge and has tremendous confidence in her in making it as a broodmare, and I have to agree with him.’’

For Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth, the sale of Cinderella Days is a particularly satisfying one.

“David had any other number of options for this mare, so we were delighted when he chose to offer her through Inglis Digital,” said Melmeth.

“There was a significant amount of interest in her and while bidding initially fell short of the reserve, it is pleasing to have negotiated a sale at a significant level.

“As the sale demonstrated, there is excellent demand for quality stock, be it racehorses, breeding stock or shares and we expect this to continue to be the case through the balance of the year.”

Cinderella Days becomes the seventh lot to realise $100,000 or more in the September (Early) Sale alongside Williamsburg ($455,000), a Pierata breeding right ($220,000), Celestial Storm ($170,000), Robusto ($160,000), La Seule ($155,000) and South Of Houston ($115,000).

She is also the 85th seven-figure lot to sell through the platform in 2024 so far.

Entries for the September (Late) Sale are now open and will remain so until midnight on Wednesday.
