One to Watch – UK – Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 5

Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (GB) will be sadly missed in Australia this season and was making a bit of news overnight with a debut win for a very impressive two year-old filly that was the highest priced filly at the Arqana May Breeze Up Sale this year when fetching €800,000.

The Ralph Beckett trained Cathedral was a short priced favourite for a maiden fillies event over 6f at Lingfield and absolutely bolted in to win by more than four lengths.

Cathedral was bought in France by Robson Aguiar and runs for Amo Racing.

"Ralph put her in the perfect place to start and she's won impressively," said Amy Drummond, racing manager to Kia Joorabchian's Amo Racing.

"She has a Moyglare (G1) entry but she won't go there as it'll come too soon.

"We'll make sure she comes out of the race okay but there's a few options. There's the Cheveley Park and the Oh So Sharp, but they're only being considered at the moment, nothing is certain. I'm sure Ralph will make more of a solid plan for her in the coming days.

"She's exciting for next season and it's important she gets that experience as a two-year-old. We've got quite a few nice horses to look forward to next year."

Cathedral sold for 800,000 euros at Arqana May Breeze Up.

Cathedral was a successful pinhook having made 110,000 guineas at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 when bought by Powerstown Stud, who then re-offered her in France.

A half-sister to Group III placed Firebird, she is the fourth winner from four to race from unraced Frankel mare War and Peace, a half-sister to this year's Group I Pretty Polly Stkaes winner Bluestocking from Group I winner Emulous.

She is the third winner from five runners by Too Darn Hot from mares by Frankel.

Too Darn Hot covered 122 mares in Australia last spring wo will have foals being born here this spring.
