One to Watch – Wagga

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 26

Set to cover a galaxy of stars at Yulong this spring including 10 time Group I winner Imperatriz, Pierata posted a stylish debut winner at Wagga on Monday that started a short priced favourite.

One of only two three year-olds in the 1000m maiden, the Gary Colvin trained Cambar made light of the heavy track to race clear and win by a length and a half.

A $50,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his trainer from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Cambar is the second winner from Miss Quaintly, a winning More Than Ready (USA) mare from a legendary female family that has produced breed shaping stallions such as Sadler’s Wells and Nureyev.

Cambar was a $50,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

Miss Quaintly was a savvy pick up for Fairhill Farm, purchased through 2023 Inglis Digital July (early) for $27,500 and she is due to foal to Jacquinot this spring.

Cambar is the second winner of the new season for Pierata and is his 12th from his first crop that have just turned three.

Pierata stands at a fee of $66,000 this spring up from his previous four seasons at $44,000.
