Pingwu Spark Half-Sister to Sell for Windsor Park

Media Release - Tuesday January 23

Rising star Pingwu Spark (Mastercraftsman) took his prizemoney earnings past NZ$1 million at Sha Tin yesterday when becoming the first horse in Hong Kong to win five races this season.

Pingwu SparkThe heaviest horse currently racing in Hong Kong, Pingwu Spark has now won five of his last six races with the son of Mastercraftsman and the imported broodmare Sharp Point creating a Group One scheduling decision for his young trainer Benno Yung.

Yung will decide whether to opt for the Chinese New Year Cup on February 18 or throw Hong Kong racing's new cult hero in the deep end a week later and contest the Group One Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup.

"The Group One would be very tough but that might be the only place we can go," Yung said.

"I don't want to get there too early, he's still learning and he's still not the full package.

Half-sister by Shamexpress to Pingwu SparkThe timely pedigree update will further enhance the credentials of a half-sister to Pingwu Spark by last year's leading freshman sire Shamexpress (O'Reilly) being offered by Windsor Park Stud in Book 1 of next weeks NZ Bloodstock Yearling Sales at Karaka.

Windsor Park's 2018 yearling consignment was also bolstered by other success at the weekend as they will offer an I Am Invincible half-sister to unbeaten 'boom' 3YO Jasd (Sepoy), successful at Trentham on Saturday, as well as a Charm Spirit half-brother to Sunday's impressive Te Rapa winner Stratocaster (Mastercraftsman).

A triple Gr.1-winning miler, Charm Spirit (Invincible Spirit) made a splash with his first southern hemisphere yearlings at the recent Gold Coast yearling sales where he finished second on the Freshman Sires' table with an average of A$216,250.

Charm Spirit has 55 first-crop yearlings catalogued for sale at next weeks NZ Bloodstock Yearling Sales at Karaka.
