Wahng Wah adds another victory before stud

AAP - Saturday August 5

Whether Wahng Wah gets the chance to improve on her record remains to be seen but the mare has expanded her pedigree page with a win over 1800m at Randwick on Saturday.

Wahng Wah is slated for a stud career this season but trainer Kris Lees is hoping she can add at least one more win to Saturday's #theraces handicap for fillies and mares.

Ridden by in-form apprentice Rachel King, Wahng Wah ($5.50) pulled clear late to put 1-1/4 lengths on Miss Dubois ($15) with Diapason ($4.80) another three-quarters of a length third.

"I don't really have any plans for her but the owner does," Lees said.

"He has a stallion in mind.

"The plan is for her to go to stud but she can't go until September anyway.

"Hopefully we can find a mares' race for her over this sort of distance."

King said the eight-horse field played in Wahng Wah's favour after her last-start fourth of 14.

"She got a good run in the small field which helped," she said.

"And she was strong for her first time over the distance. It was a good effort." The win was Wahng Wah's fifth from 18 starts.
