Wahng Wah adds another victory before stud

Whether Wahng Wah gets the chance to improve on her record remains to be seen but the mare has expanded her pedigree page with a win over 1800m at Randwick on Saturday.

Wahng Wah is slated for a stud career this season but trainer Kris Lees is hoping she can add at least one more win to Saturday's #theraces handicap for fillies and mares.

Ridden by in-form apprentice Rachel King, Wahng Wah ($5.50) pulled clear late to put 1-1/4 lengths on Miss Dubois ($15) with Diapason ($4.80) another three-quarters of a length third.

"I don't really have any plans for her but the owner does," Lees said.

 "He has a stallion in mind.

 "The plan is for her to go to stud but she can't go until September anyway.

 "Hopefully we can find a mares' race for her over this sort of distance."

 King said the eight-horse field played in Wahng Wah's favour after her last-start fourth of 14.

 "She got a good run in the small field which helped," she said.

 "And she was strong for her first time over the distance. It was a good effort." The win was Wahng Wah's fifth from 18 starts.
