Inference Continues in Victoria

Media Release - Monday August 12

Good news on the Victorian breeding front with the announcement that So You Think’s promising young stallion, INFERENCE, will continue standing south of the Murray in 2024.

With a couple of handy winners already this season under his girth strap, Inference’s future locale was up in the air following the closure of Cornwall Park earlier this year.

However, the flashy Randwick Guineas winner will stand under the banner of Peters Bloodstock, while covering mares at the famous Stockwell Stud.

“I have massive faith in this horse and reckon he’s an ideal type for the breed to race owners,” Greg Peters enthused. “He (Inference) is a cracking type, just like his sire, and produces them in kind.”

Although a winner at 2, racegoers saw the best of Inference at 3 when he won the Group 1 Randwick Guineas – an honour he shares with Group 1 producing sires Octagonal, Dundeel, Hallowed Crown and The Autumn Sun – while his classic season also realised placings in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas and Group 1 Victoria Derby.

“Inference won as a 2YO and placed in both the (Group 3) Norman Robinson and the Derby in the spring but you really saw the best of him as an Autumn 3YO,” Peters points out. “Inference is the only Group 1 winning son of So You Think standing in Victoria and of course he (So You Think) has a reputation for producing horses that show up at 3 and train on.

“I’m not suggesting for a moment that Inference won’t get 2YOs … Remuda was stakes placed at his second start and won as a juvenile, but I think you’ll find more and more horses like Rob Hickmotts’s Epice Dieu who won two in a row in June at 3 and won again last week in his first start at 4.

“Inference’s first cropper, Tallingas Prince also won last week as a 5YO, while other recent winners such as Frappes and Wild Inference are all training on.”

Inference will stand this season at a fee of $6,600 and for further information contact Rebecca Jamison-Jones on 0409 195 405.
