Hinchinbrook Filly on Track for $250,000 Inglis Classic

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 21
Leading Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan had to settle for the minor prizemoney in the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but a week later his two year-old Hinchinbrook filly Snicki Minaj earned a shot at the $250,000 Inglis Classic in Sydney.

Last weekend Gollan finished third and fourth in the Magic Millions (Outback Barbie and Ef Troop) but Snicki Minaj was never in danger of being beaten at Doomben.

Snicki Minaj was unlucky in her debut in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at Doomben last December when finishing seventh and made amends at her second outing to lead throughout and win the 1110 metre dash by three lengths.

Snicki Minaj made her owners very happy on SaturdayShe will now be sent to Sydney to target the Inglis Classic (1200m) at Warwick Farm in three weeks.

"The plan was always to go to this and then three weeks to Sydney," Gollan said.

"There's not a lot of this filly but she does a good job."

A modest $25,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Bowness Stud draft, Snicki Minaj was bought by first-time syndicators Boom Racing, who have brought a huge group of owners together in this filly, many of them in celebration mode at Doomben after her brilliant victory!

Snicki Minaj is the third winner from Mezmar, a winning half-sister by Marwina to stakes-winner Dorf Command.

Snicki Minaj is the fifth two year-old winner this season for Yarraman Park's Hinchinbrook, who has good representation at upcoming sales with 28 youngsters for Inglis Classic.
