Public Attention Targets Caulfield Guineas Following Exciting Debut

Mark Smith - Saturday July 27

Bred by the late Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan and carrying the navy of Coolmore, Public Attention put a stamp on Written Tycoon's champion juvenile season when making a winning debut in the MRC Chairman's Club Hcp (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

Ridden by Ethan Bown for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, Public Attention was easy in the betting. Still, he was all courage to overcome a wide run to defeat the Justify colt Ndola by a half-length, with the well-supported Omaha Beach (USA) colt Band Of Brothers a length back in third.

Ethan Brown agreed with Mick Price that the grey son of Written Tycoon is a Caulfield Guineas horse.

"I can't see why not; he is a very nice colt," Brown said.

"He covered ground but appreciated the room. He was very wayward in the straight ut when that one (Ndola) came up inside of us, he rallied, which is a good trait for a colt, and he will only improve.

"I heard he can be a bit of a handful, but he switched on when I got on. He knew his job to a point, but he will improve and measure up in better races."

Public Attention was a $160,000 buy for Tom Magnier from the Carlaw Stakes draft at the 2023 NZB Karaka Book 1 Yearling Sale.

Legramor has a yearling filly by US Navy Flag (USA) named Proud Katie, a weanling coly by Tarzino, and was covered by Satono Aladdin (JPN).
