Three Winners in Three Days for Zousain

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 25

With the breeding season fast approaching studs love it when a young sire gets a roll along as we head into spring and Widden Stud’s Zousain is doing just that posting his third winner in the last three days when Zousain Bolt scored at Hawkesbury on Thursday.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Zousain Bolt was having his third start following a debut fifth and then a last start second on a very heavy track at Hawkesbury.

He appreciated the firmer footing and with the benefit of race fitness and experience was too strong in a driving finish to win the 1300m juvenile maiden by a head over Exceedance colt Cristal Clear to give first season sires the quinella.

Winning rider Andrew Adkins has been aboard Zousain Bolt in each of his three starts and was well pleased to get the win.

“He’s almost too relaxed although he did everything right today and just got a little bit lost when he got to the front,” said Adkins.

“He still has a lot to learn and will take a lot of confidence out of today.”

Zousain Bolt was a $180,000 Magic Millions purchase.

A $180,000 Magic Millions purchase from Edinglassie Thoroughbreds for Triple Crown Syndications. Zousain Bolt is the second foal and first winner for Xaarfoxylady, a winning sibling to Group II winners Ninth Legion and Tsaritsa.

Xaarfoxylady was back at Widden Stud last spring and was covered by Supido.

Zousain Bolt is the 11th winner – one in NZ –sired by Zousain, who is now equal second on the first season sires list by Australian winners.

The good looking son of Zoustar stands at a fee of $27,500 so is an affordable alternative to his sire, who stands at a fee of $275,000.
