One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 25

This flashy two year-old colt by Trapeze Artist has been turning heads since the day he was born and he did it again at Wyong on Thursday when making a winning debut.

A strapping chestnut with blonde mane and tail that sports the prominent blaze of his sire, the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained Automated was a close fourth in a recent trial to subsequent winner Wings of Desire and took that form to race day.

He let down with a good turn of foot to run clear of the favourite Delrico winning the 1300m maiden by a length and a half with Tom Sherry in the saddle.

uo;He was well prepared and came here in good order,” said Tom Sherry.

“I was confident in the run and he was most impressive when he balanced up in the straight and was strong to the line.”

A $130,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase from the Widden Stud draft for TFI/Ryan & Alexiou Racing, Automated is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group III winner Facile, who is also trained by Ryan and Alexiou. He is the first and only foal from She’s Bionic, a half-sister to stakes-winner I Like It Easy from stakes-winner Gai’s Choice.

Automated was a $130,000 MM Adelaide purchase.

Automated is the 45th Australian winner this season for Trapeze Artist, who is set to be Champion Second Crop sire by earnings with his winners headed by Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Griff and Group winners Ducasse and Facile.

The champion son of Snitzel stands at Widden Stud at a fee of $55,000.
