Tenth Winner for Zousain

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 24

Zousain made it two new winners in two days when the hot favourite Mister Bianco saluted in the first race at Ipswich on Wednesday.

The Paul Shailer trained gelding impressed when finishing a close second on debut at Eagle Farm earlier this month and on paper looked hard to beat in the 1350m maiden with Ryan Maloney to ride.

Mister Bianco took a while to work through his gears but was strong on the line to win by a neck.

A $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase for his trainer from the Ambergate Farm draft, Mister Bianco is the fourth winner from Group II placed Pins mare Orutan (NZ), a half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Pier and Group III winner Maria Farina from Group II winner Naturo.

Orutan was one of 189 mares covered last spring by Zousain, who has had a fee increase to $27,500 this spring at Widden Stud.

The good looking son of Zoustar has sired 10 winners – one in NZ – headed by Group III winner Drifting and three more stakes-placed horses.
