Media Release - Tuesday July 2

Equimillion 2024 gets even bigger with new FREE ENTRY classes announced and the event expanded to four days

Racing NSW today announced the opening of nominations for Equimillion 2024 which will see a minimum of $1 million in prizemoney on offer exclusively for retired thoroughbred racehorses competing across Eventing, Showhorse, Show Jumping and Dressage.

To be conducted at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre on October 4th to 7th, Equimillion 2024 will feature at least 36 individual classes carrying prizemoney of $30,000 each.

New FREE ENTRY classes have been added this year exclusively for recently retired thoroughbred racehorses, with at least one such class added to each discipline that will also carry $30,000 prizemoney. These ‘New Star Thoroughbred Classes’ have been designed to cater for horses that have retired from racing in the 12 months prior to Equimillion 2024 and will attract FREE ENTRY for eligible horses.

Registration for the competition and access to full event details is available via www.equimillion.com.au.

In its inaugural year, Equimillion established itself as a game changer within both the racing and equestrian communities, attracting over 310 retired thoroughbred racehorses from across NSW.

With more than $1 million in prizemoney on offer and given the anticipated demand, Racing NSW and Equestrian Australia have worked collectively to expand Equimillion to four days in 2024. This expanded competition will cater for additional competitors and make it easier for individuals to compete in multiple disciplines and classes.

To provide further support for those horses targeting the New Star Thoroughbred Classes at Equimillion in October, The Equimillion Regional Series will provide sponsored classes specifically for these recently retired horses at upcoming competitions.

Racing NSW has partnered with the following initial events to provide prizemoney of $5,000 for each event, with this Equimillion Regional Series providing an opportunity for recently retired horses to gain valuable competition experience prior to Equimillion in October:

4 August – Country Hack Championships – Showing at Kempsey Showground

15 August – Waratah Showjumping at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre

22 August – Tamworth World Cup Showjumping - NNWSJC at AELEC Tamworth

22 September – Young Dressage Association at Bendick Murrell
