There are G1 Winners and G1 WINNERS

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 17

We often say about a sire ‘he’s never without a G1 horse’ and in the case of this stallion it’s true.

Vinery Stud’s All Too Hard has always been one of those sires that does a good job, but rarely gets the commercial recognition he should given the quality of horse he can produce.

Stefi Magnetica too good for Bella Nipotina - image Grant Courtney

We saw it again last Saturday when his three year-old filly Stefi Magnetica won the $3million Group I BRC Stradbroke Handicap defeating $8million earner Bella Nipotina… if you can beat Bella in a G1 you’re going pretty good!

Bred and sold by elite Hunter Valley nursery Cressfield, Stefi Magnetica became the fifth Group I winner among 25 stakes-winners sired by All Too Hard, whose fee has fluctuated over the years starting at a high of $66,000 before dropping as low as $27,500 in 2019 and 2020 before coming back up to $38,500 in 2022, 2023 and again this year.

What’s interesting about All Too Hard is that when he gets a good horse, it’s very good.

There are a lot of stallions that have more G1 winners than All Too Hard, but a great many of those G1 winners only ever win one race at the elite level.

With All Too Hard, his four previous G1 winners prior to Stefi Magnetica are all multiple G1 winners.

Alligator Blood won seven and over $8million in prizemoney, Hong Kong based Wellington won four and over $12million earning the title of Champion HK Sprinter, Behemoth won three G1 and $3.2million and Forbidden Love also won three G1 and over $2.2million.

Given that track record, it’s not hard to imagine what we have seen so far from the Bjorn Baker trained Stefi Magnetica might just be the tip of the iceberg.

While she has emulated the success of her dam Mid Summer Music in winning the Stradbroke, Stefi might be at the start of something even better!

If you are a fan of All Too Hard and many are, the good news is his progeny are profitable for their breeders, but still affordable in the sale ring with his sale stats for this year below and his top sellers in 2024:
