Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 9
The Rosehill trials on Monday morning featured four heats for the two year-olds with a sparkling return for Listed ATC Breeders Plate winner Performer and a promising effort from a million dollar filly with a full sister to be offered at Magic Millions this week.

Magic Millions graduate Performer wins the Breeders PlateThe Chris Waller trained Performer scored a soft half length win in his 900 metre heat under Hugh Bowman.

He travelled midfield and then ambled up to the leaders after straightening and cruised to the line under a hold to beat well-bred Snitzel colt Omar, a brother-in-blood to Menari given he is from Group II winner Ichihara, a full sister to Menari’s dam Isurava.

A $450,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newhaven Park draft for Harras Syndicate / Mulcaster Bloodstock, Performer runs for a big syndicate of Waller stable clients and is a half-brother to Group I winner Bel Sprinter from Snippets mare Gavroche.

$1.7 million filly Estijaab as a yearlingRunning slightly quicker time in winning her heat was expensive Snitzel filly Estijaab, a $1.7 million Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Arrowfield Stud for Emirates Park Pty Ltd / B Carlson.

Trained by Team Hawkes, Estijaab was second in her first trial to subsequent stakes-winner Meryl and showed good improvement from that outing to lead all the way for Brenton Avdulla.

She scored by two lengths in 53.80 seconds beating Fiesta, who was third in the Listed ATC Gimcrack Stakes on debut.

Estijaab is a half-sister to stakes-placed Alter Call and is the third foal of dual Group I winner Response, whose current yearling, another filly by Snitzel will be offered by Arrowfield Stud as Lot 235 at Magic Millions.

Other two year-old trial winners were Gentle Persuasion (More Than Ready (USA) and Bold and Wild (Redoute’s Choice), click here for all the trial results.
