Million Dollar Colts Battle at Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 12

The 1150m maiden at Randwick on Wednesday for colts and geldings produced a quinella for a couple of million dollar two year-old colts with Braveheart, the $1.3million full brother to King of Sparta, too good for Everybody Rise, $1.4million full brother to Russian Revolution.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, I Am Invincible colt Braveheart brought up a race to race double for the stable and his sire following on from a brilliant debut win for I Found You in the opening race.

Braveheart clocked slightly slower time, but still did a great job at his second start improving sharply on his debut sixth at Hawkesbury last month. He slipped through on the inside for Tommy Berry and kicked clear before holding off the challenge of Everybody Rise to win by  the best part of a length.

A $1.3million Inglis Easter purchase from Yarraman Park for China Horse Club / Newgate / Go Bloodstock / Trilogy, Braveheart is the fifth winner from six to race out of Group III winner Octavia and is a full brother to $3.5million earning multiple Group winner King of Sparta, who is also trained by the Snowden’s.

Braveheart was a $1.3million Inglis Easter purchase.

“He’s done a good job, although still an immature horse. We really liked him as a yearling, but he went through a spurt and then he went a bit plain, but he’s on his way again now,” said Peter Snowden.

“He improved a lot off his last run and we saw it in his work and he showed it today.

“I think he can go on it with it and I’m sure he’ll be better on top of the ground.

Octavia is now in foal to again to champion sire I Am Invincible, who has sired eight two year-old winners this season headed by his Group I winning colt in New Zealand Move to Strike and Group III winning colt here in Australia in Bodyguard.
