Perfect Debut for $1.3million I Am Invincible Filly

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 12

Pedigree watchers and trial watchers have been waiting with bated breath for a while now on the Peter and Snowden trained I Am Invincible filly I Found You who put the writing on the wall last month when beating Group I winning colt Broadsiding in a barrier trial at Randwick.

The stable selected an 1150m fillies and mares maiden for the two year-old at Randwick on Wednesday and she had no trouble demolishing her older rivals to win as she pleased.

Ridden by James McDonald, I Found You turned in a text book performance, jumping well to travel sweetly sit behind the leaders and when asked to accelerate she dropped them easily to win by three and three-quarter lengths with blueblood three year-old Kingman filly Fiorenza rattling home for second on debut.

“She was really good and has taken a bit of a blow afterwards suggesting there is plenty of improvement in her as well,” said James McDonald.

“She’s a well educated racy type of filly that will shoot through the grades.”

I Found You made $1.3million at Inglis Easter.

A $1.3million Inglis Easter purchase for China Horse Club from the Cressfeld draft, she is a half-sister to Group I winner Shooting to Win, Group II winner Deep Field and stakes-winner Zaniah being from blue hen Listen Here, who made $3.4million at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when bought by a partnership involving Cressfield and China Horse Club.

“She’s been a like a little Christmas present sitting under the tree that we’ve been waiting for three weeks to open to it’s good to see her do that today,” said Peter Snowden.

“China Horse Club have been very patient. She’s a filly that was a bit immature, but she’s starting to fill out and furnish and will keep getting better and I think the autumn will be when we see the best of her.

“We’ll push on now and give her another run or two so she gets that good grounding and in six months that will be when she’s really ready.”

I Found You is the eighth winner from eight foals to race from Listen Here, a stakes-winning Elusive Quality (USA) mare, who traces in tail female line to legendary matriarch Eight Carat (GB), via the Cotehele House (GB) branch of the family made famous by five time Group I winner Danewin and leading sire Commands.

Listen Here had no yearling for the sales this year, but produced a colt last spring by Zoustar and is now in foal to Russian Revolution.

Footnote: The runner-up Fiorenza would have pleased her trainer David Pfieffer with her debut second and this homebred for the Towell family’s Jananth Pty Ltd will be one  to follow out of the race.

She is a half-sister to four time US Group I winner In Italian being from Group III winning Redoute’s Choice mare Florentina, who was bred and raced by Fairway Thoroughbreds and spent some time in Europe at stud before returning to Australia.

From the Twyla branch of the Dancing Show (USA) family, She was purchased by the Towell family for $650,000 at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in 2020 and produced Fiorenza from the covering she was carrying to Kingman.
