Brilliant Debut for Cosmic Force's Wonder Boy

A thrilling start to the day at Flemington with the emergence of a smart performer in the Cosmic Force debutant Wonder Boy in the RDA Peninsula Jenny Stidston Sprint (1200m)

Settled back in the field by Luke Currie down the straight 1200m, the  Jerome Hunter-trained 2-year-old gelding savaged the line to defeat Godolphi’s well-supported Frosted (USA) gelding Pisces with the Pakenham winner Supernima (Super Seth) back in third.

A $125,000 purchase for Graeme Gathercole’s Graebar Park from the Rothwell Park Thoroughbred draft at the 2022 National Weanling Sale, Wonder Boy is the third winner from as many to race for the classy Haradasun mare Beatniks.

The winner of eight in Brisbane, Beatniks placed in the Group III BRC Glenlogan Park Stakes and Listed Memorial Classic on the way to banking $372,000.

Rothwell Park bought Beatniks for $70,000 at the 2021 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale and sold her a year later for $140,000 to Kingstar Farm at the National Broodmare Sale. She was carrying a So You Think colt that sold to  Richard & Will Freedman Stables / Pinhook Bloodstock International (FBAA) for $100,000 when consigned by Kingstar Farm to the at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Wonder Boy a $125,000 National Sale Weanling

Beatniks has a weanling colt by Wild Ruler and was covered by Extreme Choice on a 22nd January service.

Wonder Boy is the seventh winner from 17 starters from the first crop of Newgate Farm’s brilliant Deep Field stallion Cosmic Force.
