First Foal a Winner for $2.3million Missrock

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 5

This time last week the bloodstock world was full of news headlines highlighting expensive racemares selling as broodmare prospects at the Magic Millions and one of those sale ring stars back in 2019 at this sale was $2.3million Fastnet Rock mare Missrock.

Missrock was a showstopper at Magic Millions selling for $2.3million.

A full sister to Group II winner Passive Aggressive, Missrock topped that sale and ticked a lot of boxes as a twice Group I placed, Group winning sprinter with a beautiful pedigree to complete the package. She was bought by UK based bloodstock agents John and Jake Warren.

Sent straight to the Northern Hemisphere, Missrock was covered by legendary sire Galileo in her first season as have been so many good Fastnet Rock mares (think Atlantic Jewel, Sea Siren, Amicus and Nechita) and her first foal is now promising three year- old colt Theory of Tides.

Bred and raced by Isa Salman Al Khalifa, Theory of Tides has had two starts for the John and Thady Gosden stable and won them both with the most recent last week when he scored easily at Yarmouth over 1m 3 ½ f.

uo;When I asked him Theory of Tides seemed to gain lengths very quickly. I feel like I caught Jack [Mitchell, aboard Steel Tiger] as if he were standing still. He's got lots of potential. He got tired in the last furlong, so hopefully there's still plenty to work with,” said winning rider Kieran Shoemark.

Theory of Tides holds entries for upcoming stakes races, so it will be interesting to see where he goes next.

Missrock has a two year-old Kingman colt to follow called Regalian.
