Serious depth in May (Late) catalogue of 520 lots

Media Release - Friday May 24

G1 winners, dams of G1 winners, mares on world-class covers and several recent Metropolitan winners headline another huge Inglis Digital May (Late) Online Sale.

For the third consecutive sale, the catalogue has exceeded 500 entries with a final figure of 520 lotted for the auction – 218 racehorses (93 race fillies), 140 broodmares, 68 racehorse shares, 47 yearlings, 46 weanlings and 1 unbroken stock.

G3 winning import Welwal (GB) is for sale.

Among many highlight entries is prized international mare Angelinka, being offered in foal to hugely desirable stallion Justify.

Angelinka’s page is awash with black type, with she herself a Stakes winner in Germany as well as being victorious in France and the USA.

The dual Hemisphere black type performer Welwal – a prime candidate for the $3m The Big Dance in November - is another exciting entry in the sale.

The Chris Waller-trained 5YO is a G3 winner in France and is a winner and three-times Stakes placed in Australia, including in the G3 Doncaster Prelude behind up-and-coming star Another Wil and the G3 Hawkesbury Cup at two of his past three starts.

Grahame Begg’s mare Rivaport (pictured) is another that brings a strong international flavour to the May (Late) catalogue.

Like Welwal, Rivaport started her career in France as a winner and she is arguably in the form of her career at the moment, finishing third to Caulfield Cup contender Sea What I See at Stakes level a fortnight ago.

There are also several stallion shares in the catalogue including two in Mo’unga and one each in All Too Hard and Portland Sky while Dragon’s Tail – the dam of G1 winner Age Of Fire, offered in foal carrying a three-quarter sibling to Age Of Fire – is also sure to garner the attention of buyers, as is the dual G1 winner Srikandi, whose yearlings have realised up to $1m.

Other catalogue highlights include:

*Freight Train – 15% share in this promising, lightly-raced 3YO who won by almost 2L on debut before contesting the G2 Alister Clark Stakes at just his 3rd and most recent start

*Limburg – 3YO Justify half brother to dual G1 winner Loving Gaby, already Stakes performed

*Long Beach – Well-bred French mare offered IF to Toronado

*My Sanctuary – Well-bred mare offered IF to exciting young stallion Acrobat, her Easter yearling sold this year for $280,000

*Oistrach – Unraced $1.4m yearling, trialled nicely at Rosehill this morning and won a Rosehill trial earlier this month

*Pro Forma – Lightly raced Capitalist 2YO, has raced only twice, a winner on debut then 6th in a Stakes race, has significant racing upside

*Rapido – A veteran of just five career starts, has won his past two including at Metropolitan level

*Sinawann – Dual Hemisphere Group winner, still competitive at Stakes level

*Stravain – Half sister to G1 HK galloper Mugen, offered IF to Pierro.

There is also a 30-strong draft from Yulong including yearlings, weanlings, racehorses and race fillies, while the likes of Lindsay Park, Bhima, Ciaron Maher, Widden, Coolmore, Rosemont, Price/Kent Racing, Kia Ora etc have all supported the catalogue with impressive drafts.

With the Southern Hemisphere live sales season all but over, buyers can still buy yearlings and weanlings in this catalogue by the likes of Wootton Bassett, Written Tycoon, Shamus Award, So You Think, Pierro, Tassort, Alabama Express, Deep Field, Farnan, King’s Legacy, Exceedance, Cosmic Force, Royal Meeting, Zousain etc.

The final countdown of bidding for the Inglis Digital May (Late) sale begins from 10am Wednesday.
