$1.7Million for C'Est Magique – Waller to Train

Group I placed C’Est Magique has never won a stakes race, but that didn’t stop her being one of the most sought after mares at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on Thursday night with Tom Magnier securing the daughter of Zoustar for $1.7million.

Consigned by Widden Stud on behalf of her owner breeder Neville Begg, C’Est Magique has always shown elite ability in her 13 start career to date for Grahame Begg despite only posting one win.

Her five placings include a second to In Secret in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes and C’Est Magique will now be given the opportunity to improve on that with a new trainer assigned by Coolmore.

“She’s a fabulous looking mare, one of our top picks of the sale so we are very happy to get her,” said Coolmore’s Colm Santry.

“She’s obviously very good as we saw with her second in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and is sound to race on, so we will put her back in work with Chris Waller and see what she can do.”

C’Est Magique is a half-sister to Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner and successful young sire Written By, who was also bred and raced by the Begg family and Neville Begg was at Riverside Stables to watch her go through the ring.

“I bought her mother Yau Chin at the Scone Sale,” Neville Begg recalled when interviewed by Jemma Cutting.

“She was a nice looking grey filly and I paid $3,000 for her. Everything out of her has won and she’s up at Widden now and is back in foal to Zoustar.

“I’m 93, so I’m just happy to be here!”
