Finding mares with genuine upside at the breeding stock sales can be a tricky task and Lime Country Thoroughbreds have the proven track record for the astute investor with an eye to the future.

Lime Country drafts at recent breeding stock sales have produced the dams of Golden Slipper winner Fireburn, Group I ATC Surround Stakes winner Kimochi and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Fashion Legend – and all of those mares were purchased for less than $100,000!

$4.5million earner Fireburn.

Fireburn – her dam Mull Over purchased from Lime Country for $22,000.

$1million earner Kimochi.

Kimochi – her dam Summer Fun purchased from Lime Country for $80,000.

$1.5million earner Fashion Legend.

Fashion Legend – his dam Sarong purchased for $60,000.

Lime Country will be offering value mares in the Inglis Broodmare Sale on Friday, click for the full draft with highlights below:

Lot 390: Forreel – She’s one of only two broodmares offered in this session in foal to red hot sire Too Darn Hot (GB). She’s not only a ½ sister to Dundeel she’s also a “tax mare” that has foals by Brazen Beau and The Autumn Sun to run for her as well. A big scopey mare, I think it’s an excellent mating for her with plenty of merit as a package for someone.

Lot 379: Downloads A young Fastnet Rock mare which ran 4th in the Blue Daimond Prelude as a 2YO with three good matings already invested in her with sires like by Deep Field and So You Think still to run. Her first foal a filly by American Pharoah is now a winner and the talk is good from the stable on her 2YO. The mating to Jaquinot picks up the success this family has had with Pierro through Jaquinot dam Ponterro.

Lot 302: Tinkerlicious Brilliantly set up at stud so far with two Per Incanto’s to run for her this Group III winning mare is set to kick some goals shortly for her future owner. A six time winner from an international speed family and in foal on a September cover foal to exciting young Cambridge Stud sire Hello Youmzain, who sired his first winner in France on Tuesday.

Lot 268: Seismics Young Lonhro daughter of Champion 2YO Filly in EARTHQUAKE. A super active Darley family with stakes updates again since the catalogue went to print with her ½ brother Trembles (Too Darn Hot) now stakes placed. Unfortunately, the mare was in foal on a 1st September cover this season but had absorbed by her 45 day scan. A big strong type she has plenty of options at stud going forward.

Lime Country Thoroughbreds will also present four mares in the Inglis Chairman’s Sale on Thursday evening.

Lot 7: Luna Dorada A super exciting imported young stakes placed mare in foal on a 1st September cover to Frankel. An impressive winner on debut at her only two-year-old start at York. At three she had three further starts, all at Group or listed stakes level and she ran third in the Listed Newbury Abington Stakes.  A daughter of English Derby winner Golden Horn, Luna Dorada hails from a high class international female line with her second, third and fourth dams all Group or stakes performers. She is importantly free of Danehill which opens up a range of prospects for her ongoing breeding career.

Lot 11: Miniature – A dual stakes placed “Tax Mare” which as already thrown a 2YO stakes performer in Micro. This is an active Darley family with plenty of action around her and the mare herself still with a Harry Angel and Blue Point to run for her into next season. Carrying a positive to So You Think.

Lot 35: Simone Louise A Snitzel daughter of Champion 3YO Filly of Australia in REGIMENTAL GAL this maiden mare would be a perfect addition to anyone building up their capital stock going forward. With multiple ½ sisters being bred up by various farms and more promising siblings still to run there is a stack of upside in this young mare who was a $700k yearling.

Lot 64 Berdini’s Girl- She’s a pre-Christmas debut winning 2YO that went on to be Group II placed later that season. An attractive, neat, but powerful style of mare that has proven to throw a classy, quality type with her first foal, a colt by So You Think. Has a positive to Justify (USA).
