Merchant Navy Mare Wins Wagga Queen of the South

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 3

Merchant Navy was relocated last year from the Hunter Valley to a new home at Kooringal Stud at Wagga and he featured at the big Wagga Cup meeting on Friday when his talented mare Subliminal won the $75,000 Queen of the South (1400m).

Sent up from Victoria by Leon and Troy Corstens, Subliminal was partnered by Rachel King and had enough left in a driving finishing to snatch a long neck win.

A $60,000 Magic Millions Weanling purchase from Rheinwood Pastoral, Subliminal was then purchased for $80,000 by Malua Bloodstock from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft at Inglis Classic.

A super consistent mare, she has the impressive record of three wins and six placings from 14 starts with prizemoney topping $100,000.

Subliminal is the best of four winners from Majestic Faith, a winning three-quarter sister to stakes-winner Black Minx, the dam of $2.3million earning Group winner So Si Bon.

Rheinwood Pastoral sold a King’s Legacy yearling filly from Majestic Faith at Magic Millions this year for $170,000 to Richard & Chantelle Jolly.
