When you come to the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale seeking a premium product it’s hard to go past the credentials of Fairhill Farm for racetrack results and sale ring rewards and this year’s consignment will be parading at Riverside Stables from Thursday morning.

“We take a lot pleasure and satisfaction in seeing other people make money from the horses we produce and sell as weanlings,” said Mike O’Donnell.

“Whether that be on the racetrack or in the sale ring, our horses get every opportunity to make their mark in life and the last six months have brought some amazing results for so many people.”

Fairhill Farm have elected to focus exclusively on the weanling market so investors have a unique opportunity to purchase the cream of their crop right now and it reflects in the results of the farm.

Fairhill Farm have enjoyed Group I success on the track producing Group I winners Good Project, Choice Bro, Glorious Days and this year’s Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes winner Hayasugi, who was famously plucked from their draft at this sale in 2022 by James Bester Bloodstock / Shane McGrath / Cara Mok for just $47,500.

From the first crop of promising young sire Royal Meeting (IRE), the Clinton McDonald trained Hayasugi has won three of six starts earning $1.6million.

Fairhill Farm purchased weanlings have also achieved notable success at the yearling sales this year with many turning a profit for their new owners on their second trip through the sale ring.

This Justify (USA) weanling colt from Kitty Leroy sold for $500,000 as a yearling!

The best of them was a cracking Justify (USA) colt from Kitty Leroy that made $500,000 at Inglis Premier for Shadow Hill Thoroughbreds when purchased by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds. He was purchased from this sale last year for $105,000!

Also offered at Inglis Premier and turning a handsome profit was a Deep Field colt from Keeping Score sold by Alma Vale Thoroughbreds/ Kitchwin Hills for $475,000. He too was sourced from this sale for $180,000.

Astute New Zealand pinhookers Riversley Park enjoyed success at Karaka Book 1 with a King’s Legacy filly from Fatal Rendezvous they purchased from this sale last year for just $40,000. She blossomed during her prep in New Zealand sold to David Ellis for $260,000.

The draft this year is packed with quality and features the progeny of 18 different stallions including first season horses Aclaim (IRE), Acrobat, Captivant, Pinatubo (IRE) and St Mark’s Basilica (Fr), plus there are also four from the second crop of Golden Slipper winner Farnan and three from the second Australian crop of Wootton Bassett (GB).

Lot 22 Filly Zousain x Jolie Brise, by Fastnet Rock

From the third crop of promising young sire Zousain,w ho has had six winners including Group III winner Drifting. Half-sister to Group III winner Eady Set Sail and stakes-placed Set the Sails with dam producing five winners from five foals to race. Proven Black Type family and is bred on the very successful Zoustar (sire of Zousain) x Fastnet Rock cross that has produced three G1 winners this season – Zougotcha, Joliestar and Climbing Star.

 

Lot 63 Colt Pinatubo (IRE) x Luminous Eyes (IRE), by Bachelor Duke

From the first crop of Champion European 2YO Colt and triple G1 winner Pinatubo. This colt is a half-brother to multiple Group II winner and G1 placed Lumosty from imported Irish Group III winner Luminous Eyes, whose Justify yearling filly was sold at Inglis Easter this year for $550,000 to Watership Down / McKeever Bloodstock.

 

Lot 70 Filly So You Think x Majesty, by Fastnet Rock

Half-sister to multiple Group placed two time stakes-winner Lady of Honour and Group II placed Our Couver from a daughter of imported Irish Group III winner Kincara Palace (IRE). Bred on the same So You Think x Fastnet Rock cross as Group I winner Palaisipan and Group III winning fillies Banana Queen and Majestic Colour. Majesty has an unraced two year-old colt by Too Darn Hot (GB) called Hot Majesty that made $500,000 at Inglis Easter when bought by McKeever Bloodstock / Lindsay Park Racing / Watership Down.

 

Lot 121 Colt Farnan x One More Tequila, by Onemorenomore

From the second crop of Golden Slipper winner Farnan, whose first yearlings have sold for up to $1.2million and averaged $337,000 at Inglis Easter and $309,483 at Magic Millions. This colt is a half-brother to Group II placed Mexico and two more winners from a daughter of juvenile SW Tequila Knowledge.

 

Lot 126 Filly So You Think x Our Miss Jones, by Darci Brahma

From a G1 placed full sister to stakes-winner Marianne, the dam of Group II winner Yaletown. Dam has had four foals to race all winners and she is now in foal to Pinatubo (IRE).

 

Lot 284 Colt Wootton Bassett (GB) x Yuma Desert, by Not a Single Doubt

From the second Australian crop of outstanding proven G1 sire Wootton Bassett, whose first yearlings have sold for up to $2.1million. Fourth foal of a metro winning half-sister to stakes-placed Sandy Prince and Desert Fox.
