Rich Enuff Filly Tiger Shark Opens Stakes Account in Mick Dittman Plate

Mark Smith - Saturday April 27

Fourth in the Listed Mode Stakes and Listed Gold Edition Plate last preparation, the 3-year-old Rich Enuff filly Tiger Shark went off an unloved $26 chance in Saturday’s Ladbrokes Mick Dittman Plate at Eagle Farm and came up trumps.

Ridden by Bailey Wheeler for Natalie McCall, Tiger Shark defied the Snitzel filly Hip Hip Hurrah by a half-length, with the Sidestep filly Party For Two back in third.

A bargain $15,000 purchase for Paul Kingsford Bloodstock from the Springmount draft at the 2021 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale, Tiger Shark advances her record to four wins and a third from 11 starts with earnings of $263,650.

“She blotted her copybook last time out, but before that, she was amazing,” McCall said.

“She was hindered by bad gates all of last prep, so it’s great to get black-type because she deserves it.

“I was thinking this morning that she might be better suited at 1200m, where she can have a cruisier time in front, which would suit her. But she is a very relaxed filly, so she is adaptable and would could use her speed today. She had to work a bit to get across, and then she came back underneath Bailey and sprinted again at the end.”

Tiger Shark is the lone winner from two to race for the winning Exceed And Excel mare Langoustine, a half-sister to multiple stakes-placed Moko (Impending) out of the stakes-winning Dubawi mare Zubbaya.

Langoustine has an unraced  Toronado mare named Miss Toronado, a $105,000 Great Southern Weanling, and a yearling colt by Frosted (USA), who was sold for just $1,000.

Tiger Shark is the ninth stakes-winner for Woodside Park Stud’s Rich Enuff, who will stand for $13,200 in the forthcoming season.
