$300,000 Mare in Foal to Too Darn Hot Tops Inglis Digital

Media Release - Wednesday April 24

Brae Sokolski secured the top lot in tonight’s ‘full’ Inglis Digital April (Late) Sale, buying proven broodmare Molto Allegro - in foal to Too Darn Hot – from the Oakland Park reduction for $300,000.

Sokolski was active on multiple fronts tonight, also purchasing another proven broodmare Aliberani – also from the Oakland Park reduction – in foal to Blue Point for $90,000.

Both were bought in partnership with Damian Degenhardt.

Molto Allegro sold for $300,000 in foal to Too Darn Hot (GB).

“I love these established, proven broodmares and mares of their calibre who have had exceptional producing track records don’t get sold that often so I must say I was pleasantly surprised to see them online with Inglis Digital and I was more than happy to secure them,’’ Sokolski said.

“They come from a great farm, they’ve been very well looked after and both have great pregnancies. Too Darn Hot is arguably the hottest young stallion in the country and I’ve got a lot of time for Blue Point and I think he’ll prove himself particularly as his first crop race as 3YOs.’’

Sokolski said both mares would be transported to Yarraman Park in the Hunter Valley to be foaled down before any decisions were made on new matings and whether the foals were retained or sold.

“We’ll assess the merits of the foals and decide then what happens next with each of them,’’ Sokolski said.

“Aliberani is obviously the dam of a filly we race in Mare of Mt Buller who hopefully can update the pedigree as soon as Saturday when she runs in the Princess Stakes at Eagle Farm and then hopefully on her way to the G1 Queensland Oaks.

“Inglis Digital is a brilliant platform, you always get the right equilibrium. Both those mares I thought would make their genuine value and they made those marks and that’s exactly what you want from a sales platform is to get the right results for both the vendor and the buyer.

“Invariably with Inglis, you get the right type of buyers and right volume of buyers that the good quality horses make their mark and these mares certainly made their mark.’’

Oakland Park’s Neville Duncan agreed.

“I was really happy with Molto Allegro, she’s an outstanding mare and good luck to Brae and his team with her,’’ Duncan said.

“She’s a lovely mare and she’s going to a lovely home.’’

Tonight’s third-top lot was the Dan O’Sullivan Racing-offered Uniquely, which sold to Supreme Racing for $170,000.

“You’re trying to read the market on the run and this is the first time we’ve sold with Inglis Digital and I couldn’t ask for anything more,’’ O’Sullivan said.

“Dealing with [Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager] James Price, he was very forthright and honest on how he assessed the mare, he guided me through the process and I couldn’t be happier with the service provided.’’

The fourth-top lot tonight was the American mare Outsider Art – in foal to Extreme Choice – which sold to Victorian buyer Eddie Temple for $150,000.

Outsider Art was offered by Newgate Farm.

“Extreme Choice is a phenomenal stallion, statistically one of the best in the world, so we’re delighted for the new owner,’’ Newgate’s Jim Carey said.

“We’ve had great success with the Inglis Digital platform and this is just another example of a result where both parties are happy.’’

There were many significant-sized drafts in the April (Late) catalogue including from Arrowfield (24 entries), which grossed $264,900.

“We sold 23 of 24, it’s hard to argue about a day of trade like that,’’ Arrowfield’s Jon Freyer said.

“We’ve always been pleased to meet the market with these things and we’ve done that today and wish the purchasers good luck.’’

There were also multiple stallion shares in the sale which sold well including Jacquinot ($95,000) and Grunt ($55,000).

In total, seven horses realised $100,000 or more in the April (Late) Sale, which grossed $5,257,450.

Entries are now open for the Inglis Digital May (Early) Sale, which will run from May 10-15.

Entries close at midnight on Wednesday May 8.
