2017 Favourite Foal Winner

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 22
Renowned Hunter Valley nursery Willow Park Stud have won the Breednet Favourite Foal of the Year for the second year running.

Their winning foal last year was a colt by Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom (USA) from Jessolaura and this year they achieved the feat with a gorgeous mother and son picture featuring New Zealand bred mare Mon Visage and her colt by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds based sire Stryker.

He is the first foal of Mon Visage and is owned by Noorilim Park's Sherah Sullivan, who raced her in syndicate with a large group of owners after purchasing her as a yearling.

"The syndicate dispersed and I was sad to lose her and couldn't afford to buy the other partners out, I remember leading her through the ring in tears," said Sullivan.

"A few years down the track she appeared on gavelhouse and I purchased her for a song, she’s paid me back big time with this beautiful boy.”
.
The winning picture was taken by Lisa Richards, who has been a full time employee at Willow Park for several years.

"In addition to doing all of our foaling, she is an integral part of our team at the sales and another of her passions is photography, so she now takes all of the on farm photos for clients," revealed Glenn Burrows.

"At this time of year, after work, she spends hours sitting in a paddock of mares and foals taking photos for our clients while at the same time trying to get that unique shot such as the one she won the competition with this year and last."

Willow Park are super busy with on farm Magic Millions yearling inspections s and will take a quality draft of 11 to the Gold Coast, click here to see them.
