Brutal Filly Wins $200,000 Wellington Boot

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 14

The $200,000 Wellington Boot (1100m) on Sunday in the Central West of NSW attracted a big field of 14 runners with Brutal filly Fingers Hunter doing best in a driving finishing to snatch victory.

Trained by Brett Cavanough, Fingers Hunter was third on debut at Scone last month and took good benefit from that outing. She was strong to the line for Braith Nock to claim a head victory and has banked over $135,000 in her first two starts!

A $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Sledmere Stud draft for A Chan, she was a successful pinhook bought for $45,000 from the Ambergate Farm draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Fingers Hunter was a $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Fingers Hunter is the fifth winner from five foals to race from Sticky Fingers, an unraced half-sister by Duke of Marmalade (IRE) to stakes-winner Moqueen from the family of blue hen Mica’s Pride, the dam of Group I winners Criterion and Comin’ Through.

She is the fifth winner for Newgate Farm’s young O’Reilly stallion Brutal, who covered 69 mares last spring.
