The Championships - Sire List Movers and Shakers

Two brilliant Saturday’s of racing at Randwick for The Championships have brought some change to the Australian sires tables, so let’s take a look at some movers and shakers.

After a super successful Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale where his 27 yearlings sold averaged $693,333, Zoustar  was also making headlines at Randwick. He sired Group I ATC Queen of the Turf stakes winner Zougotcha and also Group II ATC Arrowfield Sprint winner Joliestar, with their prizemoney helping him to leapfrog So You Think and move to second place on the Australian General Sires List by earnings.

Also on the move was Pride of Jenni’s sire Pride of Dubai, who has surged quietly into fourth place.

In the first season sires division Too Darn Hot (GB) sired a seventh Australian winner and first Aussie stakes-winner when Broadsiding won the Listed ATC Fernhill to take the lead on the first season sires list by winners. He is also running fifth on the first season sires list by earnings with the Top 5 all siring the winners of over $1million in earnings and all have the potential to finish at number one come the end of July.

In the second season sires division, The Autumn Sun produced his first Group I winner when Autumn Angel took out a vintage renewal of the ATC Australian Oaks beating VRC Oaks winner Zardozi and NZ Oaks winner Orchestral. He moves to fourth on the second season sires list by earnings and is second for winners.

Fastnet Rock is doing a Pride of Jenni on the Australian Broodmare Sires List opening up a margin over Encosta de Lago to hit $30million in prizemoney with his daughters producing Group I winner Zougotcha and the first two home in the Group II Arrowfield Sprint in Joliestar and Hedged.

Hellbent is enjoying a fabulous spring with seasonal progeny earnings topping $7million and 45 Australian winners including stakes-winners Magic Time, Savvy Hallie and Boston Rocks, plus million dollar race winners Vivy Air and Revengeance with his good form extending to Hong Kong where he sired a double on Sunday with a pair of lightly raced 4YO’s on the up.
