All Too Hard Blueblood Breaks Maiden in Style

Mark Smith - Wednesday April 3

As a half-sister to the Group 1 VRC Oaks heroine Personal (Fastnet Rock), First Person has a bit to live up to and took the first step when breaking her maiden over 900m at Newcastle on Wednesday.

Ridden by Tommy Berry for Kris Lees, the 3-year-old daughter of All Too Hard finished strongly to defeat the favoured Capitalist gelding Duke Of Bronte by one and three-quarter lengths with the Divine Prophet filly Godelba three-quarters of a length back in third.

A homebred for Cressfield Stud’s Bruce Neill, First Person broke her maiden at start five and coming off a 20-week break.

“She’s come back a nice filly. We had a good opinion of her last preparation,” stable representative Danny Greer said.

“She just has to get her racing manner right, which she looked to have done today over the short course. She was strong late.”

First Person is the eighth and final foal of the Listed SAJC Queen Adelaide Stakes winner Personify (Galileo).

Purchased by Kieran Moore Bloodstock for $2,000,000 on behalf of Cressfield, at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale, Personify is one of five stakes-winners for the blue hen Procrastinate, led by the multiple Group 1 winner Laisserfaire, Group III winner A Time For Julia, and Listed winners Foreplay and Time Thief.
