Southern Highlands nursery B2B Thoroughbreds are expecting to be busy this week showing a draft of seven for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale that features a top class colt and exceptional filly by champion sire Snitzel.

Ricky Surace and his team will be hoping to make an early splash at this year’s sale with Lot 36 being one of the first yearlings to be offered at Riverside Stables this year by the ever popular Snitzel.

Lot 36 - Three-quarter sister by Snitzel to Mamaragan.

From proven producer Forbidden, who has left four winners from four foals to race, she is a three-quarter sister to brilliant Group II winning juvenile Mamaragan, who placed in both the Group I ATC Golden Slipper and Sires Produce Stakes.

It’s not hard to see why she is seen as the star filly of the draft!

“This filly is really big, strong with great balance and a lovely action,” said Ricky Surace.

“She’s been highly rated since a foal and is bred on the lethal Snitzel/General Nediym cross.”

Snitzel runs at 80% winners to runners with General Nediym mares with 24 winners from 30 starters and they include 10 Black Type performers highlighted by Group I winners I Am Excited and Sizzling.

Snitzel is also the sire of Lot 438, a striking colt from unraced Black Prada, a half-sister by Domesday to four time Group I winner Appearance and stakes-winner Mascareri.

Lot 438- Bred the same way as Trapeze Artist, Snitzel colt from Black Prada.

“He’s an incredibly well balanced colt with lots of strength and scope and looks to be in the mould of the top-class Snitzel progeny that have been Group I winners,” said Surace.

“He has everything you look for in a good colt bred and is on the elite Snitzel/Domesday cross just like Trapeze Artist that has 100% success,  five winners from five runners!”

The remainder of the draft is as follows with comments from Ricky Surace:

Lot 112 Colt Bivouac x Lipstick Lover, by I Am Invincible

From the first crop of Champion 3YO Sprinter Bivouac and is the fourth foal from stakes-placed Lipstick Lover, a half-sister to Group I ATC Randwick Guineas winner Ilovethiscity.

This fella has a lot of presence, has a massive action and his attitude to his work is second to none. A great advertisement for his first season sire at Inglis Easter.

Lot 266 Colt Exceed and Excel x Scarlet Billows, by Street Boss (USA)

Half-brother to Group II placed Gleneagles from Group III winner Scarlet Billows, whose 2YO colt Ecclestone (Exceed and Excel) sold for $600,000 last year to China Horse Club/Newgate and has shown nice ability in only trial for Peter and Paul Snowden in January.

Nice compact colt that moves with purpose, is out of a very high class race mare that is doing the job at stud. Bred very similarly to Cylinder being by Exceed and Excel over a Street Cry line mare.

Lot 296 Filly Dirty Work x Skagerrak, by Dawn Approach (IRE)

From the first crop of a fast Group II winning son of Written Tycoon and is a half-sister to Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner Karakarib from a winning half-sister to Group III winner Hanseatic and new stakes-winner Austmarr from the family of champions Black Caviar, All Too Hard and Ole Kirk.

Early running type of filly that is a very loose mover, is from an outstanding family with incredible residual value by a young son of champion sire Written Tycoon whose progeny have been sought after.

Lot 441 Colt So You Think x Bobine (USA), by Giant’s Causeway

Half-brother to three winners headed by Group II ATC Hot Danish Stakes winner Reelem in Ruby, a winner of nearly $600,000, from an elite Black Type North American female family.

Sharper style of So You Think colt that is very well grown with a really deep girth and great strength through the shoulder. Mare has already thrown G2 Winner Reelem In Ruby, this colt has the presence and the looks to be the next star performer for the family.

Lot 467 Filly Russian Revolution x Complicit (USA), by Blame

First foal of stakes-placed import Complicit that won three races and is a grand-daughter of multiple Group winner Solvig

Great moving filly with plenty of balance, she looks to be in the mould of her champion sire. She is out of a stakes performed Blame mare, so she is bred very closely to star colt Switzerland being on the Snitzel/Blame cross. Probably our best moving yearling we will present at Inglis Easter.
