Yulong Winner for Mark Newnham

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 28

The Yulong colours are seen in the winner’s circle all over the world and were in action at Happy Valley last night where Mark Newnham produced their latest winner in Irish bred gelding Show Respect (IRE).

Group II placed in four starts as a juvenile in the UK, he then found his way into Yulong ownership and was subsequently gelded and sent to Hong Kong.

Trained first by Douglas Whyte and now in the care of Mark Newnham, Show Respect went winless in eight starts last year before recapturing form for his new trainer.

Show Respect made it back to back wins when cruising clear to win the Class Three sprint over 1600m by a length and three-quarters.

A four year-old gelding by Showcasing (GB), Show Respect is a half-brother to Doctor Geoff, a Group III winner in Hong Kong and while he is no doubt a very small part of the Yulong machine, this horse could be a very important one for Mark Newnham.
