One to Watch – Goulburn

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 14
This three year-old daughter of Darley heavy hitter Medaglia D’Oro (USA) from the family of Might and Power was in a class of her own at Goulburn on Thursday.

Medaglia D'OroTrained by Joe Pride, Oria was easy in the market when making her debut at Canterbury on December 1 before finishing a close up fourth.

That good performance was not lost on punters who installed her favourite this time around for the 1200 metre fillies and mares maiden.

Oria jumped fast from gate one and then settled in third spot on the fence for Jeff Penza before taking a split in the straight that saw her surge to the lead.

She accelerated impressively over the final furlong to open up and win by four and a half lengths.

A homebred for Fraser Thoroughbreds, Oria is the third winner from Bal du Siecle (GB), a Danehill Dancer half-sister to stakes-winner Buenos Dias, whose dam is blue hen Benediction (IRE), best known as the dam of two time Australian Horse of the Year and Cups and Cox Plate winner Might and Power.

This is also the family of French Group I winner Beauty Parlour, HK International Mile winner Lucky Owners and Champion 3YO Filly Mosheen, a four-time Group I winner of $2.7 million.

Her breeder will be hoping Oria goes on to earn Black Type as Bal du Siecle faoeld again to Medaglia D’Oro this spring producing a colt.

Medaglia D’Oro has just six entries for Magic Millions.
