Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 22

There were four heats for juveniles at the Randwick Trials on Friday morning and some interesting unraced winners by I Am Invincible, Blue Point (IRE) and Hayasugi’s sire Royal Meeting (IRE).

A bargain purchase for James Harron Bloodstock Colts Partnership having been plucked from Inglis Classic for just $60,000, the Michael Freedman trained Royal Meeting colt Balmoral showed good improvement at his second trial, Stepped up to 1050m, he worked to the line well to catch blueblood I Am Invincible filly Seascape, a homebred for Fairway Thoroughbreds.

Balmoral could be another winner for Royal Meeting and has a bit in common with his star filly Hayasugi as he was also bred and sold as a weanling by Fairhill Farm.

Runner-up Seascape holds plenty of interest as a full sister to stakes-winner Zarastro from Group II winner Adrift and her yearling brother will be offered by Segenhoe at Inglis Easter as Lot 406.

Another youngster to improve at her second trial was the Ron Quinton trained I Am Invincible filly Rantan, who zoomed home from a seemingly impossible position to win her heat by half a length.

A homebred for Gall Bloodstock, Rantan is a sister to the very  quick and consistent filly Infatuation and is from stakes-placed Sweet Kiss.

Darley shuttler Blue Point (IRE) has taken a lot longer to get going than most people would have believed possible, but there was plenty to like about the win of Blue Moves, who is trained by Michael Freedman and showed abundant natural talent in her first trial. She jumped fast for Tom Sherry and was straight to the front albeit travelling deep and kept going to win by half a length held together.

A $380,000 Magic Millions purchase from Edinburgh Park for James Bester Bloodstock, Blue Moves is a half-sister to a couple of Group placed horses in Revolving Door and Golden Spin from stakes-placed Turnstiles, a half-sister to Group II winner Vangelic.

Additional winner was: Diva Las Vegas (Bellevue Hill).
