Metro Double for Pierro

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday March 20

Pierro posted a winning double at the metro meeting at Wyong on Wednesday with promising filly Pajanti making it back to back metro wins, while the Ingham family homebred filly Bright Red cast off maiden status.

Trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Pajanti broke her maiden at Rosehill last month and stepped up to a Benchmark 72 event for this assignment over 1350m, she showed good determination to win by half a length.

Tim Clark has ridden Pajanti in each of her wins and thinks she is on the right track.

“She did it well against the older mares so credit to her,” he said.

“I feel the penny is starting to drop with her and she was always shown promise and I think this time in she is really starting to get the hang of it.”

Pajanti was a $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

A $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Kia-Ora Stud from the Sledmere Stud draft, Pajanti was bred by China Horse Club and is a half-sister to the Group I NZ Two Thousand Guineas runner-up Meritable being the fourth winner from as many to race for blueblood Encosta de Lago mare Crystal Flute.

Pajanti wahas won two of five starts earning just shy of $100,000 with more wins in store.

A $1.4million for China Horse Club from the Teeley Assets draft at the 2016 National Broodmare Sale; Crystal Flute is a sister to Group and stakes-winners Precious Lorraine and Lucky Raquie being from the Monsoon Wedding branch of the Shantha’s Choice family featuring Group I stars Redoute’s Choice, Manhattan Rain, Platinum Scissors and Shoals.

At the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, The Chase consigned a So You Think colt out of Crystal Flute, which was a $325,000 buy for Snowden Racing and she was bred back to So You Think again last spring.
