Juvenile Trial Watch – Rosehill

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 18

There were some interesting trials at Rosehill on Monday morning with five heats for juveniles that included exciting prospect Linebacker and we had the first look at the filly that topped the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year at $1.8million.

Super Seth colt Linebacker made a big impression when bolting in on debut at Hawkesbury last month and John O’Shea was happy to give him a little freshen after that with a view to some of the longer stakes races over the carnival. He looked awesome in this 900m heat cruising around for Kerrin McEvoy under a big hold to win by three lengths.

Bred by Johnathan Munz’s GSA Bloodstock, Linebacker races for a partnership of heavy hitters and carries the maroon and white crossed sashes of Frank and Christine Cook.

A $160,000 Karaka Book 1 purchase for John O'Shea Racing / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) from the Haunui Farm draft, Linebacker is the third foal and first winner for the unraced Oasis Dream mare Garden of Swans (GB).

Unraced $1.6million Snitzel colt Imperial Force showed good improvement from his first trial to his second. The Chris Waller trained colt was given a quiet time by James McDonald last time, but this time was asked to quicken and did so to win by nearly half a length in the quickest time of the juvenile heats.

$1.6million Snitzel colt from Ultimate Fever won his heat today as Imperial Force.

Purchased from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at Inglis Easter by Coolmore, Imperial Force is a full brother to Group III Sprightly Lass and stakes-winner Cordon Bleu being the last foal from now retired stakes-winning producer Ultimate Fever.

Stepping out for the first time in public was the Chris Waller trained filly Autumn Glow, the half-sister by The Autumn Sun to Group I winner In The Congo that topped Inglis Easter last year for Silverdale Farm when selling to Arrowfield Pastoral / Hermitage Thoroughbreds for $1.8million. she jumped well to take the lead and stayed there, travelling smoothly throughout to win by more than a length.

Autumn Glow was a star at Inglis Easter for Silverdale Farm.

Autumn Glow is a stunning looking filly that was a phenomenally successful pinhook having been sourced originally from the Newhaven Park draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $600,000 by Silverdale Farm/Shrone Bloodstock. She obviously has a measure of ability to go with her good looks and is the fourth foal from Champion South African sprinter Via Africa (Safr), a triple Group I winner.

Also in action was $3million Zoustar colt Kandinsky Abstract, who topped Inglis easter in 2022. The three year-old was having his second trial this prep for the Chris Waller stable and stretched out nicely to win by a length.

Kandinsky Abstract beat Randwick Guineas winner Celestial Legend on debut - image Steve Hart.

The full brother to Champion 3YO Filly Sunlight, Kandinsky Abstract won on debut at Canterbury last May beating Celestial Legend, who has since gone on to be a Group I winner. His subsequent four starts during the spring, three of them in stakes races, did not measure up to the early promise he showed, but it’s a new year and a new beginning so connections are entitled to optimism.

Widden Stud will offer another Zoustar colt from Solar Charged at Inglis Easter this year as Lot 304.

Additional juvenile heat winners were: Sun Beauty (Rock Hero), Zozo Narni (Castelvecchio).
