Golden Slipper Order of Entry Updated – First Season Sires in the Mix

The Australian Turf Club has advised the latest order of entry for the $5m, Group I TAB Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 23rd with two new youngsters earning exemption from ballot after winning the Group III ATC Magic Night And Pago Pago Stakes last Saturday and both are by first season sires, who look to have exceptional representation this year.

Of the top 24 qualifiers, seven of them are by first season sires and all of them are different first season sires – starting at the top they are Tassort, Exceedance, Zousain, Royal Meeting (IRE), Alabama Express and Cosmic Force.

Dublin Down was Exceedance’s first stakes-winner last spring winning the Group III VRC Maribyrnong Plate and earned his place in the Slipper winning the Pago Pago Stakes in which hot favourite Gatsby’s failed to ignite and finished fourth.

Drifting has had an outstanding first prep - image Steve Hart

Drifting won her maiden at Hawkesbury on February 13 before finishing second to Bold Bastille in a Listed race at Flemington and  became her sire Zousain’s first stakes-winner when successful in a competitive Group III ATC Magic Night.
