Austmarr never looked to be out of second gear, leading at every call to defeat the 6-year-old Nicconi gelding Aston Rapova by three and a half lengths with the 5-year-old Zoustar gelding Celsius Star a neck back in third.

With her maiden stakes success, the striking daughter of Exosphere advances her record to four wins and three seconds from nine start6s with earnings of $199,050.

Kah was effusive in her praise for Austmarr.

uo;I was just a passenger, I did nothing bar sit on that horse,” Kah said.

“She jumped well, she can miss the start sometimes, but today she pinged out. She was strong, she was keen, and she wasn’t stopping.

“She was really running that trip out strongly today. They’ve obviously brought her here peaking, but I think she’s going to improve off that; she had a good blow pulling up; she’s a lovely horse.

“I know she won well at Sandown, but I think she’s a better class than this; she’s got a motor underneath her.”

A half-sister to Rosemont Stud’s popular Hanseatic (Street Boss), stakes-placed Frost Flowers (Frosted), and to the dam of Group III Maribyrnong Plate winner Krakarib Austmarr is the fifth winner from as many to race from the Exceed and Excel mare Itameri.

Austmarr is the final foal of Itameri, a granddaughter of the superb Scandinavia, the dam of Magnus, Wilander, Scandiva and Arctic Flight, and the granddam of Black Caviar and All Too Hard.

Austmarr is the 10th black-type winner for Oaklands Stud’s Lonhro stallion Exosphere.
