Australian Bloodstock Win Canberra Cup

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 10

Kris Lees and Australian Bloodstock are a formidable team and won the Listed Canberra Cup in 2020 with the import Mugatoo (IRE), who went on to win the All Star Mile and they were back in the winner’s circle on Sunday winning the same race with Almania (IRE).

A progressive stayer by Epsom Derby winner Australia, Almania was a last start second in the Listed ATC Parramatta Cup and took another step when powering home to overhaul the leaders and win by a length and a half for Dylan Gibbons.

Almania was originally a 500,000 guinea purchase from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale before being acquired privately as a tried horse by Australian Bloodstock.
