Coin Toss Wins Listed National Sprint- Half-Sister in MM March

Tara Madgwick - Sunday March 10

A top class stakes-winner in Singapore last season, Flying Artie gelding Coin Toss brought his A game to Canberra on Sunday scoring a bold front running win in the$165,000  Listed National Sprint (1400m) bringing a timely pedigree update for his yearling half-sister to be offered at the Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale on Tuesday.

Raced by Gandharvi and partners, Coin Toss was brought back from Singapore to Australia last year and given to Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott for a tilt at the Golden Eagle.

He failed to fire in that assignment, but after a good spell and two recent trials, Coin Toss showed his best in Canberra, leading all the way to win by two lengths as a well backed favourite.

“That was fantastic. It’s the first prep where we’ve had him from the outset,” said Adrian Bott.

“We’re still learning about him, but with the blinkers on today that really switched him on. He travelled great and was very strong to the line.”

A $175,000 buy for Bevan Smith Bloodstock and Gandharvi Racing from Two Bays Farm at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Coin Toss has now had five wins and three placings from 12 starts.

He was a successful pinhook having been sourced by Two Bays Farm for a modest $15,000 from the Newgate Consignment at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale.  Bred by Aston Bloodstock, Coin Toss is a half-brother to Group II placed Shezathinker from the multiple stakes placed Thorn Park mare, Headsup, who died last year.
