Second Stakes for Casino Prince's Cantbuybetter

Mark Smith - Saturday December 9

A rails-hugging ride by the leading South Australian-based rider Jamie Kah paved the way for Cantbuybetter to record an overdue win in Saturday's Listed Brisbane Handicap (1600m) at Doomben.

Trained by Ben Currie, Cantbuybetter has had little luck since capturing a Listed race over the same track and distance back in May.

The 6yo son of Casino Prince defeated Hopfgarten (Mossman) by a long head with a short neck to Zahspeed (Speed 'n' Power) in third.

It advances the record of Cantbuybetter to 9 wins, 4 seconds and 4 thirds from 28 starts with earnings of $314,800.

A $40,000 purchase from the Patinack dispersal, Cantbuybetter is the third foal of the Xaar mare Lingerie Girl a winning half-sister to the stakes-placed Esther (Fasliyev) and to the dam of Listed AJC Eskimo Prince Stakes winner Tennant's Tiara (Beautiful Crown), herself the dam of Listed Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Zoutenant (Zizou).

Purchased by Rockabee Stud for $8,000 at the 2013 Magic Millions National Broodmare sale, Lingerie Girl is a daughter of the Marauding mare Soudain who is a three-quarter sister to 2YO Triple Crown heroine Burst.

Though he will not have a representative at the Gold Coast in January, Vinery Stud's Casino Prince has four yearlings catalogued for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
