Debut Winner for Zousain – Full Brother MM Adelaide

Tara Madgwick - Saturday March 2

Widden Stud’s Zousain had a good day at the office on Saturday with a debut winner at Morphettville in Dyer, while at Flemington he went close to a stakes-winner when promising filly Drifting finished a gallant second to the race favourite Bold Bastille in the Listed VRC Furphy Stakes (1000m).

Trained by Michael Hickmott, Dyer was sent out favourite and was strong to the line winning the 1000m scamper by the best part of a length.

A $60,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Valiant Stud for Minella Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Dyer is the fourth winner from five to race from unraced Sebring mare Rainbow’s End, a half-sister to South African Group I winner Le Drakaar.

He was bred by Mullaglass Stud and they will offer his full brother as Lot 157 at the Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale.

Zousain

Dyer is the fourth winner for Zousain – three of them in Australia – with smart winner Drifting gaining Black Type with her second placing at Flemington and in Sydney expensive filly Chateau Miraval was a close fourth in the Group II ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes at her second start after a debut win at Randwick last month.
